ETFE - AN INNOVATIVE BUILDING PROJECT
ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) is an innovative plastic based product making a large impact on the building industry. It is used predominately in the exterior of such buildings such as The Cube in Beijing, China, The Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, Eden Park Stadium , Auckland and Te Awa Mall in Hamilton. Throughout the world ETFE is used in many installations and replaces roofing and glass areas of buildings with lightweight and flexible structures.
John Abel-Pattinson of Greenstone Group recently completed a study tour of ETFE installations in Australia, mainland Europe and the UK. The tour also included visits to the manufacturers and designers of ETFE products in several countries including visits to the Vector Foiltec factory in Germany.
Together with recent real experience in managing the installing of ETFE at Te Awa Retail Centre in Hamilton, Greenstone Group has an extensive knowledge of the opportunities and risks of the use of EFTE and is able to provide practical advice that will allow designers and building owners to proceed with confidence in the use of ETFE
