Phil Eaton

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

BCom(Hons)

After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Finance and a second major in Economics Phil Eaton’s career was quickly drawn to the Business and Property Development sector. Since the early 1990’s Phil has worked for companies including BNZ, St Lukes Group, Westfield, SkyCity and Multiplex.

During Phil’s career he has led a number of successful projects that vary from:

  • Development feasibilities and development strategies for numerous properties.

  • Developing and implementing a major Regional Shopping Centre development strategy together with a major tenant negotiation strategy.

  • Business development for SkyCity leading two major new business initiatives including the set up of a new casino.

  • Developing a complete Information Technology strategy for a major corporate and then managing its implementation.

Most recently, while employed at Multiplex, he led the development team on the $200m development of 80 Queen Street, Auckland. This site will be converted into Auckland’s latest premium office grade building to accommodate BNZ’s new headquarters. Not only does it feature significant green building features as it strives to achieve 5 stars, but it also integrates the new building into the existing historic Jean Batten Building. In addition careful consideration was given to how a new building such as this fits into the immediately surrounding precinct which is mostly occupied by other low rise heritage buildings. Reconciling these constraints with BNZ’s desire for large open plan floor plates to the mutual satisfaction of all interested parties, including Historic Places Trust, Urban Design Panel and Council, has been a significant achievement.

In his role as Development Director at Greenstone Group, Phil is responsible for a range of commercial, retail and residential projects including managing the development of the major Lunn Avenue precinct.
